Video card problems

I have recently put a computer together for someone. I am having problems with garbage all over the screen after I installed the drivers for it. The garbage is mostly on the task bar, start menu and windows. What went wrong when I installed the drivers.

the comments left by users mention that it locks up on some games due to driver issues. i would also guess driver problems in games would also cause problems in a 2D environment. look for updated drivers and see if that helps, also updated motherboard drivers could help the situation.
