Video Card Purchase

Hello, guys.

I'm looking to purchase a new video card. I'm not sure what I should buy. I've been looking over various cards for the past few weeks, but there are so many different choices—I don't want to get the wrong thing.

I bought an eMachines T6212 last summer. All of my current system specs can be found here: http://emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=eMachines_T6212

I want to be able to play most of the latest games. I don't have an extraordinary amount of money to spend, so I'm hoping for something in the $150 - $220 range.

Any advice that you guys can provide will be appreciated. :)
 
hmm...x800gto^2, 6600gt, 6800, x850pro, x800gto, x800x, make sure you have an agp or pci-e slot and buy the appropriot card. And if it doesn't have eaither, get the 5700le pci

In addition to the video card I would grab an extra 512mb-1gb of ram.

Thats about $240 for the RAM and video card. If you spend $300 for a video card you can get an amazing one. I know it's a bit more than you want to spend though, so the decisions up to you.

the x800GTO2 is only good if you plan to flash the BIOS, which i doubt he will do. if your considering the GTO2, get the GTO instead. Its only around $160 and same specs.
 
Thanks for the replies.

I'm currently considering an nVidia card, mainly due to the fact that all of the ATI cards that I have seen in my price range seem to be outmatched by nVidia (such as lacking shader model 3.0, which some of my games require for full effects). I'm thinking about the following cards: 6600GT, 6800, 6800GT, 6800GS

Between the 6800GT and the 6800GS, which do you think is better? The GS costs a little bit less, but it also comes with less pixel pipelines. I've heard that it makes up for it with a faster core clock than the GT, which gives them both nearly equal performance. If that's true, naturally I'll opt for the GS.
 
The 6800GS is the best deal out of those 2. The x800GTO is much better than the 6600GT and 6800.
