pardon any spelling errors. I am on a pocket pc. you night have seen my post earlier about the sony pc I purchased for $1500. I know you think I over paid but I had no interest in building my own and I wanted the liquid cooling system. (plus no payments fo 6 months help haha) anyway, the only thing I want to upgrade is the video card which is a x300 (its a video editing computer so the card does fine with 2d) so basically I just wanted anu suggestions you guys have for a mid range low price card. (i play mostly hl source and battlefield) i'm leaning towards nvidia cards because they do not tae up 2 pci slots. thanks in advance huys.

the 7600GT and x850xt are both right around there, they are pretty close for performance, but there's a post on the forum somewhere that says the x850 is the better of the two

IMO if you are deciding between the 7600gt and x850xt, go 7600gt for sure. They are neck and neck in performance and the 7600gt has sm 3.0...which will allow you to use true HDR in future games...although Oblivion has it now, and a few more either do or will have upon release soon. No brainer.

That's not true. Some nVidia cards take up 2 slots, as do some (not all) ATI cards.Thug541 said:

only negatives is they say its a bit loud. Which is ok, seeing my computer is silent right now, and has pretty good noise dampening. Anywho, are there any after market cooler's for this card? and if so, do they take up an extra pci slot?
