Is there any card I can put in my pc that I can hook up to my tv? I have a nice 36" tv it has svideo inputs is there a way to convert the output on my computer to be able to do this? I want to do this just for watching movies that I download off the internet and if there is a way to do this how will the picture look I dont want to spend a bunch of money to watch fuzzy movies!

Most video cards come with an S-video output;, while the font/text and all will be fuzzy, with a correctly configured card, movies are viewed perfectly (although i believe movies show up better no matter what best of the amount of bits/frame.?)

what do you mean by configuring the card? And what kind of card would I need to do this? would it matter if it was a high end card or would a cheap one work just as good as long as it had svideo output?

Just check the cards, see if they have S-video output, i'm not sure about the lower end cards, but the middle to higher end cards work nicely. configure= screen resolution, color quality are set to what the tv is sized for.

All right thanks I think I will try a mid priced one first and see how the picture looks...again thanks for the info!

practically any new card and most old cards have an SVideo output, i believe you can get something likr the ati 9250 for about $30. I have never done this before, so i dont know what to do to configure it. But i've heard that the text isnt that great.

here's an idea, buy the DVD/VHS of the movies that you download and you wont have to worry about hooking up your PC and TV, you wont have to buy a new video card, and you wont have to worry about picture quality!

i would recommend something like a 9200 or better though. A $30 vid card isn't going to have the image quality you are looking for most of the time. But don't go buying a $200+ card either just for this, unless you want a gaming card as well.

Would a better card give me better picture quality? The reason I want to do this is because I have a free year at movielink.com that I got for christmas!

well, in general, yes a better card will give you better image quality. but lots of "budget cards" give you just as good a picture as the higher end ones.

jsut research the card b4 u buy it. post it up here if u want, and see if anyone knows anything about it.

No matter what card you use the tv will make it look crap anyways, at least for anything other than movies. Your forced to use a low res like 80-60 (and that's if you got a good tv).

I have a GF2-MX400 which works wonders for this.
