Video card question...

New to forum, but had a quick quesiton about a video card..

im making a comp, and havnt decided on wut card to get...

was wondering wuts the difference between these 2 cards and which ones better/worth it...

XFX GeForce 7900GTX 512MB

or

XFX GeForce 7950GX2 1GB

the difference in price on newegg is about... 90dollars

Should i get the 7900 or get the GX2? (MOBO is SLi, so can eventually just do Dual those...?)

well the 7950GX2 is pretty much two cards hardwired together to make "one" card that fits into one PCI-E x16 slot

they are the best card out there that you can get
 
yea true, but i read sumwhere that Dual 7900GTX is better than the one X2...

but the cost is ALOT more for 2x cards...lol

i just wanna play CS/WoW/Guildwars/the new BF game coming...Oblivion..FEAR..Q4.......and i could go on....

can u SLi the X2 cards yet or no? cause no point in my of getting an SLi Mobo and not SLi it...lol
 
You can SLI the GX2 yes,its called quad SLI since the GX2 is basically 2 cards in 1,so yeah,its better to go for the GX2 because 1)it is better than the 7900GTX,2)You can buy a 2nd one later when prices drop and quad SLI them and 3)You won't be spending a kidney on 2 7900GTX right now for something that'll be obsolete,though i suggest you wait for DX10 cards,but ah well.
 
Yeah,but i don't think he plans on waiting,the 1950XTX or w/e the model is called is going to be the best card out,but i assume he's got an SLI mobo,so its completely pointless if he decides to SLI later.
 
lol yea, plan on doing SLi, but i thought on my MOBO i could do the QUAD gpus, thought only certain newer mobos had that option...

or atleast thats wut sum1 told me
 
hmm,i thought SLI would work the same with the 7950GX2...quad just means cuz it has 2 gpus + 2 other gpsus from the other 7950GX2,that it means quad...i dont think you need a newer mobo.
