Video Card Question

I was trolling a hardware review site a few nights ago and they commented on a video card round up review that the mid-low price range cards were actually out proforming the top of the line cards while running at lower resolutions. ofcourse, the top of the line cards blew them away at max settings. Since I can only run at a max of 1280 x 1024 32bit @60hertz

Q: if the above is actually true, what do you guys think would be the best bang for the buck card at that resolution setting for PCI-E setup?

my x1300 is terribly outdated, and does 93fps consistant while playing trackmania united @ 1680x1050 on the 'low' settings

if you're happy with ps2'ish graphics, anything 1300 or better will do fine

you can get a really good 9800 for cheap now, tho, it may be worth looking into last year's high end cards, which are now in the budget range

ahh.. i say this too much. Wait a month if thats possible and get a 8600ultra. It's got the potential to be a great mid level dx10 card, and it will probably play dx9 games AT the higher cards level.
