Video Card that would support Flight Simulator on Max setting?

Hello everybody, I am new to world of computers and this forum.

Either I didnt play games that required top-notch computers, or I played at low settings so my computer could handle them.

I play mainly Starcraft, Counter Strike Source, and Flight Simulator X

Starcraft is no big problem.

I played CSS and FS:X on the middle settings but after seeing some of my friend's computers play these games, I really want a better graphics card so mine can handle these too.

I currently have GeForce 5700LE and I am looking at price ranges around 100-130$$ USD on Newegg.com or ebay.

My motherboard is AGP.

Could someone clear this up for me? but why do the same video card has all these differnet companies like ASUS eVGA 3D Fuzion XFX BIOSTAR HIS

I am loooking into the 7600 GT or perhaps the 9800 XT

Thanks

The 7600GT is gold compared to the 9800XT as being just plain old rock.
In otherwords, the 9800XT is worth about $60 while the 7600GT is worth $120. Another card to look at is the X850XT..

It also depends on what processor you have, if it's too old it will end up bottlenecking your Graphics card (cutting down it's power). You may need to consider getting a new motherboard too, upgrading to PCI Express

I bought it 3 1/2 years ago for $1000 for just the CPU.

I think its a HP A 550

it has 160gb of memory and i think 2.4 ghz speed is this not good enough?

Well if you went and bought a 7600GT, it wouldn't perform nearly as well as it would if you had a Core2 Duo processor obviously.

If you are looking to do some gaming in the future, upgrading your motherboard and Processor would be a good bet, as having an AGP slot restricts you from upgrading your system any further than a 7600GT. But if you just want to play the occasional game, then it might not be worth it.

And sorry, but your processor sucks.

actually its a hp a 350 n and its not to bad it has 2.8 GHz

OMG I just bought a 7800 GS, and it wouldn't play it at the full settings, So i got my friends 7800 GTX, put it in my computer IN ADDITION TO MY 7800 GS, with like 2 fans, and it STILL WOULDNT GOD DAMN PLAY AT THE FULL SETTINGS WHAT THE FAWK IS WRONG

ok and to top it all off, i went to my friend who has a "x1950 XTX" he claims it costs 450 dollars. and guess what. it couldnt play it at full settings smoothly.

what card does microsoft use to play theirs at full setting on a 25" lcd?

im really not very happy right now.

can anything play this at max settings?

That's quite an achievement, given that you said your mobo is AGP only, and the 7800GTX is PCI-E only. In any case, there's no way to combine these cards in SLI. Even if you were to have 2 such cards in your PC, you'd only be utalising one.

I don't know much about the game, but the next step up from an X1950XTX would be a dual card SLI/CF config. You may have to turn down a few settings to get it running smoothly.

Besides the point... I have 2 7800GTX's in SLI and a 4800+ X2... and i can play Flight Simulator 2004 ( completely maxed out on everything tough) at 40 - 45 fps average... and i gues FSX would be a bit harder to run, no?

FSX is a damn lot harder to run!

I both and can almost max 04 out. but try playing FSX and it lags like shit, I can barely get 30fps on high settings at 1024 x 768

I can just about max it out on my computer... but thats cause i really dont use too much AA and AF cause i run it at 1600x1200

ok my bad, i just didnt feel like telling my long story of obtaining a pci x -16. well my cousin who lives nearby has the pci x 16 with two slots, he has the 7800, i installed my game there and it didnt go so well so i went to my friends house for the gtx and borrowed it from him to try on my cousins pci. it didnt work there so I brought the game to my other friends to try it on his but it still didnt work.

see that took too long to explain and could of been explained in just a few words =D

Hmm I don't know what your problem is.
My x1900xt is running it pretty much max at 1680 x 1050. Sure it chokes once in a while but fairly smooth.

How much FPS do you get? and What size monitor?

We had it at 21" and it was getting 12? I cant really remember, but we were getting about 10-15 fps, and in the (f11) outside view, we got sucked down to about 9-10 FPS.

1. What is your budget.

2. That statement you made before about adding in the 7800GTX and all those others? No. Just no. You can't use PCI-E cards in AGP slots. So either you're lying to look like you tried something or your lying to look smart. So you probably didn't buy the 7800GS.

3. FSX is a pretty hard game to run @ full. With your CPU you probably couldn't do it. If you upgrade to the best AGP GPU possible, then you might have a shot at medium. Depends on the resolution.

4. You don't have 160gb of memory. You have a 160gb hard drive. How much RAM do you have? That could also be hindering your system.

I posted it up there! God the way you typed it, it makes it seem like your an a complete asshole, which I bet your not. I didnt feel like telling my whole, chaotic story. But I will, because people are trying to be hotshots and are assuming the wrong thing and making an ass out of themselves. My cousin who lives nearby owns a 7800gs(PCI-E). I installed my game there and it wouldnt work. I have a friend named George, he owns a 7800 GTX, he was also very curious to see if both cards would run it at max. So we took his card out and drove to my cousins house. We ran both, installed drivers, etc, and to our surprise it could not run max at over the target FPS of 20. OK? HAPPY??

My budget is not very tight, I ended up getting an old 7800GS AGP from my cousin. I can run it medium high everything at get target fps of 17 FPS on a 15" screen. I think 1024 x 768

I MEANT TO SAY THAT I HAVE 160 GB HARD DRIVE. I HAVE 1.5 GIGS OF RAM.

AND YES I DID END UP GETTING THE 7800 GS, MY HARDRIVE IS 160GB AND I HAVE 1.5 GIGS OF RAM. AND YES I DID COMBINE ALL THOSE CARDS, DONT TELL ME WHAT I DID OR DID NOT DO IM NOT TRYING TO LOOK SMART OR WHATEVER YOU THOUGHT I WAS TRYING TO DO. I AM GUESSING YOU ARE A 14 YEAR OLD PREPUBESCENT KID. NEXT TIME YOU SHOULD CONSIDER READING THE POSTS
