Video card upgrade for specific game

Ok so I'm completely noob, let's get that out of the way first lol

So what happened is that I bought a game (Bioshock) which I had checked through system requirements lab that it was my video card that is not at the minimum level. Unable to return the game, I decided that this was an opportunity to upgrade my comp.

So I was wondering, what I should upgrade to be able to play this game. I'm not completely into ultra graphics, just enough to enjoy it. Anything under $200CAD

Also my power supply is at 300w. Someone had recommended a card that uses 350w. So i was also wondering if there's a good card at 300w or should I go a buy a newer supply too?

Anyways, thanx alot in advance :D

for the 6800 GT 256mb card a 480 watt is required and that card will just about run bioshock at 1280 x 1024 if you add water cooling to it and crank it up to 425Mhz.

A series 7 card with around 480 watt psu is minimum for this game the lower graphics settings half the games detail and make it look 5 yrs old so it's worth going for the series seven or if your stuck with AGP go for the AGP ATI X1950 Pro it wipes the floor with any other AGP card.

Another thing is how much ram and what CPU do you have no point upgrading the graphics card if the other components are gonna slow it down. Alot of people are finding BioShock hard to run or cant even run it it's the start of the next gen games and is forcing expensive upgrades. What a lot are doing is buying an Xbox 360 to run it as it's cheaper than an upgrade then some time later they will buy a new comp with an 8 core cpu and 2Gb graphics card.

You can't really hope to do much with a 300W power supply. If you don't want to upgrade, then I would recommend the 7600GT, it has pretty good performance for its price and its not a power guzzler.
