Hey, i will be buying a laptop soon, hopefully custom because a store not to far from me offers custom built laptops and i was wondering what kind of video card a laptop uses. are they differnet from desktop cards? im asking because i can get a nvidia 7950 from my friend for free and i want to put it in my laptop. lemme know, thanks.

Laptop video cards are "Onboard Video" (Built into the motherboard) and you can't change it any other way other than getting a better motherboard with a better video chipset.

So forget about putting your own video card in it.

Yes you can get video cards in laptops and even in sli! They are all low profile and small versions of the full size desktop cards. The most common card is the nvidia 8700m
