Video Display on Dual-Monitors

Does anyone know of any media/video programs which will allow the video to played in fullscreen across 2 monitors? WMP9, Winamp5 and Nero Showtime won't do it and I can't think of any other programs off the top of my head. Also, what games - other than MS Flight Sim 2004 can be played on a Dual Display?

Cheers folks

Dont the drivers allow for image spanning all on their own? (i dunno i havnt used my comp with dual monitors in awhile)

Yeah, but that only spans the actual desktop itself (desktop resolution is currently 2560x1024) - any videos which are being viewed, if you try to play them fullscreen, get chopped in half ie. will only show on one monitor, either left or right, whichever had the majority of the video on it ... which is interesting when you play it in a window and drag it around the desktop ;-) but that's beside the point. The whole point of splashing out on this setup was so that I could watch my DVD's in pseudo-widescreen, rather than letterbox.

Considering the rivalry between ATI and NVidia, I'm really wanting to say no ... although I hope the answer's yes. Either way I don't have time to test it now but will have a look when I get back from work, thx for the suggeestion.

Dont think it will work regardless of the video card you're using but I could be wrong

HydraVision is a no go unfortunately, and the NView Desktop Manager has no options regarding video across 2 monitors, although there were a few other handy features in there I wasn't aware of, so I'm glad I looked at it. Other than that though, it would seem there is no way to play a video across a dual-display ... at least, not that you guys are aware of. Seems strange though, because surely this is something other ppl have come across and it's a pain in the butt having to change my NView settings everytime I want to watch a movie (in fullscreen, rather than a window) which is quite often I must say.

Correct. You cannot (and I dont see it being a possibility anytime soon) span a movie fullscreen across two monitors. Simply by the definition of "fullscreen" which associates to a single display device :)

Alright fair comment, but can you answer this - why doesn't it work? Surely if the two displays are a single dektop as far as windows is concerned then there should be no problem doing fake-fullscreen to the entire desktop. So why is it that the video will only show on one display device, is there a reason for it or will we simply never know? And also, back to my original post - do you know of any games that can be played across the 2 screens ?

The videocard only support video overlays on one display at a time. That’s why I don’t get divx subtitles on TV-out with my ATI. But I found a solution for this: DivXG400 fixes some overlay issues during divx playback enabling subtitles on both displays. There’s a slight chance that this filter could solve your problem too: http://www.tac.ee/~prr/videoutils/divxg400.html

I don't know if it helps, but my favorite video player can do it.
I use BSplayer with the new "VMR-9 renderless" video mode, and my video card is an ATI Radeon 9700. This is the only mode in which I could do this (BSplayer has 6 video modes).

Depending on the video file, sometimes the part of the video visible on the secondary display can be a bit choppy. It may be caused by the fact that my video card only has one overlay (I have an Athlon XP 2000+).
