video editing station - new build

Here's a slight change in custom build since I don't need high end graphic to play game.

With this custom build, I will not be able to use OpenGL since my video card is not list there.

Is this build good enough?

Also, will my 4GB of RAM be a problem if I use Vista 32-bit version?

Ok, I think this will be the final list adjustment.

I have decided to go with XP Pro 64-bit since I have a license for that. So my memory should be good now. I am getting 3x500GB HDD as well.

One for OS & software (kind big, but it’s the best deal I can get), the other two for video data.

These should be good with all parts, nothing else?
There shouldn't be any problem with the drivers for my XP Pro 64-bit?

Total parts (no taxes): $1222.87
Total parts (after MIR): $1097.87 ($125 of rebates)
Grand total w/ software & CPU (no taxes): $1879.87

Not bad, I save $500-$800 from buying a new PC from Dell, Lenovo & Apple.

Should I get fan&cooler?

It's cheaper than the ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler.

Thanks everyone.

Looks like a really nice build. Question about the hard drives: are you going to run them independent or in some sort of RAID config?

Why are you getting a 3D gaming card for a video editing workstation? And why are you getting an SLI board if you only have one graphics card and it's not SLI-capable? This build makes no sense!

Exactly what I was thinking...

He can always upgrade graphics cards in the future.

A good gaming card is a good editting card.

So he is fine with it.

I say go with it.

Not really, besides transitions, there's not much 3D stuff going on in video editing. A serious video editing machine should have some sort of workstation graphics card, or one of the matrox cards.
