Please help someone,

I have some avi video files that are now lnk files. I can't open the lnk files now to view my video files. I need someone's help to get these lnk files back to video files so I can view them. Is there something in windows or a new program to resolve this issue. I would like to view these files.

I have no idea how it happened. It has been a while since it happened. I just need a fix to resolve the problem.

lnk. files are not your video files, they are shortcuts. Somehow your video files have had shortcuts placed to them and the file association has been screwed up.

you dont do open

do save (save to desktop or somewhere)
unzip the file
inside will be a .reg file
right click .reg file and choose merge

im not doubting what jdbennet said. How big are the files. AVI sucks. its about as bad as it gets for quality. If the size of the files is say 50k then it is a shortcut. My suggestion was maybe if the files are larger you might be able to rename the extention avi. just an idea.
good luck.

I did exactly what you recommended but when I save it to my desktop it save as a internet icon and there was no zip file located.

how would you do what you are recommending

How big are these files. if you can see the orginal files (i think they would be several meg. Copy one to a junk directory. Maybe you can just rename it.
RRRR.AVI
try it........worse that will happen is it won't work either. Don't play with the originals though.

hold your mouse over the file. it will tell you the size and name. or highlight then right click properties. if its a shortcut that won't solve your problem. the avi file should be fairly large. find one then right click copy then paste to directory of your choice.

all files are avi files that state realplayer clip:file//c/documents and settings/HP_Owner/My Documents/My Pictures/ImageStudio/Album/Motion Images/Motion68.avi. They have a LNK extension and each one of them are 3 kb

Im convinced now everybody else was right. 3kb would not be the files avi. Sorry, i don't know now and out of ideas. Something is corrupted and i don't know. Im curious if when ya downloaded were they maybe rar, zip or par files.
Oh well....
