Video freezes for 5sec every 2min.

Didn't know quite where to put this, but this seems the best place if any.

specs: win2k 2.4ghz P4, 2gigs RAM, 2gigs free HDD space (5% of drive), on board 64mb graphics.

my videos seem to freeze every 30seconds to 2 minutes of videos (any time between then) and for ~2-5 seconds. majority of the time it resumes with no problem but every so often the video completely stops and the sound resumes, when this happens I change video source to disabled, and back to video. it doesn't matter player, windows media player, VLC, .flv (online like youtube), windows media classic, etc. before/during/after the freeze, the CPU doesn't jump (except maybe down) but in any case is never above 25%, RAM is the same and never above 30%.

I have the latest directX, the latest Java, latest service pack. the computer has done this for the entire life of it (6-7 years), doesn't matter quality of video.

meanwhile, I have a 1.4ghz 512mb ram 128mb GPU XP computer which doesn't lag on any video quality under 720p, and this computer's CPU runs closer to 50% when videos are playing, RAM well above 50%.

crappy? its an on-board graphics and running on a windows 2000 machine. its not like I game, why can't I use a single cored processor for internet browsing?

btw, heres some benchmarks from PCwizard if they help:

Honestly, I don't have much of an idea. Usually when video freezes, I've read it has to do with the graphics/video card. But that's just a general answer. Wish I knew more to help.

I agree ^ Because I've experienced similar problems with my integrated graphics but it was a driver issue. Is your driver updated to the latest version?
