Video optimizer?

Hello, my friend says he wants to get a alianware against my better judgment. But there is this option for video optimizer, now before my friend buys this machine. Is the optimizer worth it? What does it "optimize"?

Might it have some video captureing capabilities? All I could think of(and can find on the net) is for like TV video. I've used such things while video editing to help clean up crappy signals from say old VHS tapes or something... Kinda doubt that's it, but I'm not sure what else it could be...

No, its going to be a dumb program he will never use.

Alienware is a awsome computer.
I how ever would never buy one.

I was wondering about a program...*shrugs* but yeah, I doubt he needs it, whatever it is...

But this should not be a impact decision on why to buy a Alienware.

Ya, I know but it is an add on he can have and he asked me to look into it for it could save him 25 bucks, so far I have saved him over 500 dollars worth just by telling him that he doesnt nead the 56k modem or 500gb hard drive or....

:D

If you are scared about $25 you should not be buying a Alienware, Anywho you do not need it.

I was also considering buying this option, but had something a bit different in mind. Along with this, I was looking at the 32" Westinghouse 1080P monitor. My thought was, I could use this as my entire home entertainment system. I believe that is where the video optimizer comes in - to give a better picture when using the monitor to view TV/Video.

The only problem is, I used to service TV and video equipment, and Westinghouse was always well-known as a garbage brand.

While we're on the subject of Alienware, what does everybody think about the physics processing unit? Probably a waste of money at the present time, but will probably lead to great future improvements.
