Can anyone help please. I can watch all videos on my laptop ( Dell xps) but when i connect to an hdtv via hdmi lead i can only play certain vids. with the others i get a message:-"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card". I have a nvidia gforce550m card with the latest driver

HDMI cables include HDCP protection built in. This is a method of copyright protection. I would suggest you may have the wrong type of cable or else you might be trying to play a DVD that is outside of your region?

I tried the vid that didn't work on my gandsons fujitsu laptop with same cable and tv and it worked fine. Also i tried two vids with region2, one worked the other didn't.
I wonder if it is a dell problem or a nvidia problem.

Is this only a problem with HDMI? And what GPU does that Fujitsu laptop have?

I do recall having some issues at work with one of our desktops running a GTX 460. Basically we couldn't get digital cable to come through over DVI. We switched to the onboard Intel card and it worked like a charm... So alluding to what fixedit said, it could be a driver issue with Nvidia (or simply lack of support on their end)
