Video switches between VGA and Graphics Card??

Hey all,

I've got a brand new Gateway, puchased retail from Best Buy. Works great, except that the video alternates back and forth between the VGA (vertical slot high up on the tower) and the Graphics Card (Horizontal slot near the base of the tower). When I boot up, it's almost always coming from the VGA, so I have to climb under the desk and swith the monitor cable. If I just shut it down from there, it will boot up again from the VGA. But if I RESTART, it will boot up from the Graphics Card.
I want it to boot from the graphics card all the time because applications tend to run faster (especially graphical processing like Photoshop), Windows looks less Pixely, and I can't play any 3D games in VGA mode.
I've posted this to the forum once before and someone suggested entering the BIOS and switching the video settings. I switched it to both settings seperately and the problem persists in both modes.

Some things you should know:
1. Best Buy upgraded the memory to 1 Gig at the store before I took it home. Did they screw something up hardware-wise?
2. Gateway Tech support is stumped and suggested I do a system restore...which, quite frankly, I'm scared to do.
3. I'm tired of climbing under this damn desk!

Any thoughts are appreciated!
Thanks!

I would try disableing intergrated graphic card. this is done in the bios usually and from device manager. after that I would reinstall the graphic card drivers the one that you want to use.
