Videos and Dual Monitors

hey, i have a problem with watching videos on my laptop with dual monitors.

whenever i stream videos off the internet it is fine. but whenever i download a video it always makes my 2nd monitor go blank and say "mode not supported" :S

why does it do this? and is there any way to stop it?

well what it was trying to do was play the video in WMP normally, then on the other monitor full screen. and as my main screen is 1440x900 and my secondary is 1024x768 it didnt support the resolution.

i found in the nvidia graphics settings in "full screen video" an option to turn it off.
