Vidoe card for playing good games like cod4

Well, If i knew the wattage of your PSU i could help you at a bit more:) I ordered a Radeon 4670.. i have it right beside me still in its box, you should try it out on a 300Watt PSU.
 
From NVIDIA, any 8800 or 9600 will do the job. As for Radeons, 4670 will probably be the best option unless you manage to get a 48xx for $100 or less. I definitely would recommend o 48xx (such as the 4830), if you want a good reason then that would be the memory bandwidth: at high resolution, memory speed is what matters, and 48xx having 256bit memory bus vs. the 192-bit bus of the 4670 will be a significant advantage when playing at high resolutions (in which case it would help us a lot if we knew the native resolutions of both the TV and the LCD, I'm just assuming that they're 1440x900 at least).
 
my 9600gt cost 130 or so I think

I have cod4 settings on max and I play on 1280 x 1024 and my fps average outside (inside over 110+) is 70~, but it can drop to 40 in a populated server when I'm near a burning apc, or a smoke grenade.

I think you can get something for under 100 dollars that will run cod4 with a resolution for mine, just don't expect max settings and fps like mine.
 
all the 9600's dropped, if you're in a tight budget, i think you can get a 9600gso for around 50-60 dollars
