Viewsonic VX1962WMP- shadow on texts and everything else

Hi guys, I have just bought this second hand monitor today. I connected it to my laptop via Vga cable and set it up at 1680 X 1050 resolution because that looks the best but I notice there are shadows on texts and everything. I have attached couple of screenshots for you. I am not sure if you can see it but it's doing my eyes. I tried to tweak few things on display settings but nothing worked. I tried to reset the monitor settings but strangely there is no reset option. I tried to hard reset (pressing the power and up buttons simultaneously) but couldn't do it.

In the second screen shot even the menu labels got shadow.

Please advice if you know any solution. Thanks in advance

Your best bet is to take a picture of the screen, a screenshot will take a snap of whatever the graphics card is outputting and not show external issues like your monitors showing

It's hard to show the shadows on the photo because the texts are so small (no shadows when I make them really big). You have to take my word for it! But I still uploaded a photo. It's not very good. Please make it bigger and look at the texts on the search box. There is definitely shadows. I have used three monitors with the same laptop and same cable in a week. So, I know the difference. Would really appreciate if someone can help.

You could just be experiencing 'old age' of the monitor. Your best bet would be to unplug it and plug itself back in. I have also heard that this problem can be because of the OS, but I can not confirm this myself. So if the monitor does not reset itself after the unplug and reconnect, then the only other option would be taking it to a PC Repair store, or just buying a brand new monitor.
