Hi Folks

I have internet with Virgin and upgraded my speed to 50meg and got the new modem, and it's not compatible with my PS3. My modem is too far away to hard wire it and don't want cables running around my house. But I have an other splitter box next to my TV and PS3, so what help I need is for someone to answer my question if they can. Is it possible for me to connect a second modem in my house and to hard wire the above modem to my PS3 and if it will be fast enough for gaming.

Cheers:confused:

What you have is just a cable modem, you would need to hook up a router to disperse internet to other devices.

No sorry didn't explain correctly, my old system was a modem and I attached a wireless router to this to network my other wireless connections in my home. One being my PS3 which as well as gaming, I also used for media steaming. I then upgrade my internet connection to the virgin 50meg and they gave me a nice sexy new wireless modem router and took away the old modem, turns out about month later when a friend came round to set up it would not work. Virgin didn't care and signed into new contract. Turns out this new wireless modem router is not compatible with PS3's, have checked. So hence why I asking the above. Hope I have explained, so you understand.

The only way to get this connected is either replace the modem/router combo unit with a dedicated modem and then a dedicated router or buy a dedicated router and hopefully you can set it up to work with your existing wireless gateway.

If you can get into the the router's settings and disable DHCP, you should be able to hook up your original wireless router too it and use that for wireless connections.
