Virtual Machines Environment Testing Software

I have installed two VMs where one is running as a Server (Windows Server 2008 R2) and another Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit. Now, the server has Active Directory installed on it with local IP 192.168.1.2 and another NIC card is added for external connections to the web. A FQDN is also set-up being thiswebsite.com

Now, how will the client know if I want to ping thiswebsite.com if it's on the local domain on the actual live website on the Internet? Whenever I try to ping via local IP, it works but if I try to ping the domain it pings externally.

You would use the DNS server role and point your clients DNS reference to that windows server IP. Then the box can resolve names for your domain clients and resources
