Once you know the make and model of system or board like in a custom case you simply go to the manufacturer's product page or support site for the online manual to see what memory is standard. The main problem Cromewell mentioned earlier was what you find at HP when trying to find information on their old systems there.

"lost in the wilderness" would be one way of putting it! :P Crucial not having DDR2 800 memory also sounds a little odd there when trying the scanner out!

Fortunately there are some places still carrying and even advertising PC100 memory. The links here are a few of those.
