Virus Found DNSCHanger + Trojan

What is the DNSChanger?
i brought a 2nd hand laptop and ran AVG it came back with
2 Virus Found DNSChanger
6 Trojan Horses
250+ Cookies

anyways they are all deleted now but im curious as to what is a DNSChanger?
my internet has gone crazy the past 2 days by working sometimes and not working sometimes is this why? if so now that ive deleted it via AVG am i good? also i cant get keylogged can i? as no keylogger was found
