Virus On Laptop: Now won't boot up

I transferred some images from my old laptop to my new laptop, using a smart media card. Around ten minutes later the new laptop just shut itself down, and now when switch on won't even boot up. It doesn't even get to point where can switch to safe mode.

I'm presuming there was some kind of virus I was unware of on my old laptop, and this has caused the problem, but as I cant even boot up new laptop is there anyway that this can be fixed.

Would very much appreciate any help, thanks.

Its hard to get a virus from a picture (if it was only pictures you were transfering) I think you have another problem that just happened to conincide with your file transfer. I would be surprised if it was actually a virus.

If your computer doesnt even get past the point of safe mode then it isnt a virus. As suggested, try repairing Windows using the installation CD repair tool.

Are you sure you havent deleted anything? Sounds like a missing file in the system if its not even going into safe mode. Do the repair and let us know what happens after you do that.
