Ok, a freind brought over his laptop, Dell Studio, he clicked on one of those fake scans, now it's in his computer. I have tried to restore it, can't, tried MSCONFIG to find it wont come up, control panel, don't work, I have a external hard drive, but can't get a good scaner to go on it. Help, not a geek, but my freind is worse, again, help.

I'm sure I did not explan it right, I can not get on the internet, with that laptop, I am on with my desktop, needing to download a scan to a flash or external drive then scan the infected laptop. Thanks for the help.

Follow my advice but yes, you will need to transfer those files over with a usb flash drive or burn the files to a cd and use it that way. You can also try safemode with networking, sometimes you can get online that way.

Here's what I would recommend. Transfer these programs over via USB and install them.
-Malwarebtyes
-Super-anti-spyware
-Avast or AVG

Boot up into safe mode (restart your computer and press the correct key once it shows up). Then run each of the above programs while in safe mode. See if that cleans anything up and gives you internet access.

If you are having trouble installing the 3 programs. Trying running a program called rkill. It will temporarily stop suspicious software and give you enough time to install the programs.

Also, this is the laptop section of the forum. There is a more appropriate place to post and that would be the internet security section.
