virus question

I just used spybot s&d to get rid of an "AV Soft" virus. It says everything is clean after running it in safe mode and regular mode. Is it possible that it missed something? My computer will not let me put it into hibernation and it keeps sending me to random websites occasionally. I will run the other tools when i can get to them. Im not on my computer atm, I am just looking for quick yes or no. Does that sound like what the AVSoft virus does?

Thanks

Let me know if there is anything else i need to post!
Sry i forgot to explain the problem! I can not put my computer into hibernation at all and i occasionally get redirected. It keeps trying to go into hibernation on its own, it appears or its trying to catch up to the times that i clicked the button to hibernate. Other than that, thats about all that seems to be wrong!
Thanks for the help everyone!

try installing spywareblaster, also i see you have few things loading that hogs system resources, disabling them will speed up your PC, e.g java updater
also you should not use IE, use firefox for browsing

If you are still getting occasional redirects then run this.

Download and Run ComboFix
If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.

In your next reply please post:
  • The ComboFix log
  • A fresh HiJackThis log
  • An update on how your computer is running

attempt to download combofix

i tried to download combofix from the your link. It downloads and then my norton antivirus kicks up and says there is a script running(high risk) and it need to be stopped. I click stop and nothing happens with combofix. Then a window comes up and says error! you can not rename combofix to combofix[1] you should rename it something else with alphanumerics! Is that normal, should i turn norton off while i download this or what? I will try again after i get some feedback on this!

Thanks

Let me know how things are going but for now to clean up your hijackthis log do the following.

Rerun hijackthis and place a check next to the following entries.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IMJPMIG8.1] "C:\WINDOWS\IME\imjp8_1\IMJPMIG.EXE" /Spoil /RemAdvDef /Migration32
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PHIME2002ASync] C:\WINDOWS\system32\IME\TINTLGNT\TINTSETP.EXE /SYNC
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PHIME2002A] C:\WINDOWS\system32\IME\TINTLGNT\TINTSETP.EXE /IMEName
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Java\Java Update\jusched.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'Default user')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'Default user')

Then click on fix checked at the bottom.

ya the first 4 entries seem suspect, also sometimes hijack wont delete these strings, so you might need to find other ways in deleting them
