I keep getting this pop up:

is it a virus? if so how do i get rid of it?

It looks like you just got sypware. Probably not a virus. You can run an online scanner which you can find here:
http://www.trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/

Other than that, if you have any antivirus or antispyware tool, just run them and it should be able to detect it once it's done and remove it. Run the antivirus just incase. If you don't have any, here are some:
