Ok, this is going to be very hard to explain so bare with me.
Basically what happened is that i was over clocking my video card. Things seemed to work fine for a few weeks. Them my comp. crashes. I try starting up and yea i have to go into safe mode change all the settings back and things seem to work fine. But wheres my toolbar? I dont have it locked or hidden it just wont show! I have zero virus protection on this computer. Could it be a virus? Could my card have fried? if so, would i see noticable problems? which ones? Also, i cant move saved files, copy them. I can open them though.
Thanks

I doubt your video card has fried. As for possible infections, follow the instructions here to post a Hijack This log. You should download and install an antivirus such as AVG anyway, though.

I dont think my card fried because i just played CSS on high settings =]. I'll check out the highjack this post your talking about

you sure you didn't just move the task bar to another place on the screen? i once lost mine by accidentally moving it to the top of the screen... you can also make it so thin that it's really hard to see...

my taskbar dissapeared today when installing some new software, just used windows system restore to go back a few days and all was fine

no its not, i also posted a hijack this log under comp security if it helps. I brought the comp into one of my teachers today and he couldnt figure it out either.

I'm thinking that it's something along the lines of a damaged explorer.exe
This happened to me once and I had to reformat, but a repair probably would have worked if my HP recovery CD wasn't corrupt :-/

Try a repair install and hope things work out.
And I don't *really* think it's a virus, although that's still a good possibility
