I have gotten more new viruses at this site than anywhere else. Most of them F-Secure manages to catch the instant they land, and I delete them. BUT something has changed the ICON on all my PDF files to a black box, AND somehow removed the option to change the icon. Can anyone tell me what is causing this ?

Whatever is happening is probably unrelated to ComputerForum. I've never gotten any kind of a virus from this site. I've also never heard of F-secure. You might want to try a program like Avast instead:

Well, I fixed that problem with F-Secure, though it took quite a while. My Icons are back to normal. As for Avast, no thanks, and the same goes for AVG, and Bit Defender. If you haven't gotten any viruses here, it is just because you haven't been trying to help the same people that I have tried to help. Open their threads, and BANG hit by a virus.

Oddly enough, I got hit by another one when I opened this thread, read the responses, then went back to the main forum. As soon as I hit the main forum, BANG another one. This time just to show I am not kidding, I used Corel Capture to make pictures of my desktop with the F-Secure messages showing before I deleted it. Will post the pics to Image Shack then add them to this thread. As for which threads, not sure because I haven't been keeping track of that, though I did post to one thread where the person said he was getting BLACK filler boxes on Internet Explorer, and he posted pictures of them.

Why are you just deleting the file rather than Disinfecting it?

Also would need to know what f-secure is detecting as I don't see any file listing that says its infected. The only thing you may get from this site is warnings from your AV or Malware program about the ads that are on the pages. If you can help me out by telling me what its detecting and if it is an ad then I'll contact the admin of the site and have him check into it.
To answer your questions one at a time. I use F-Secure because I like it. Other AV programs I have tried are distinctly inferior for one reason or another. Some are a real Pita to uninstall, leaving crap in the registry that takes hours to clean up. Others don't catch all the viruses. A girl I know was running Norton, and it said her machine was clean. Running F-Secure on it revealed 17 viruses.
2nd question : Why do I delete the files instead of "Disinfecting" them. Answer : Because F-Secure is not always successful at "Disinfecting" files, in which case it renames them. Then you have to go hunting for the renamed file and delete it if you want your machine clean. Easier to just delete it in the first place.
3rd point : What are the names of the files causing this crap. Answer don't know. If you can tell me how to find out, I will gladly co-operate with you there.

At most forums, it's a taboo to talk about ad-block since they rely on the income from the ads, as it would be here talking about software cracks and such. So I have always been afraid to suggest ad-block to people here.

The general suggestion is to disable it on the forum...that's what I do. There's an option to disable it only on certain pages. I usually disable it on any forum I join, unless they insist on allowing annoying pop-out flash ads and whatnot. *cough*ultimateguitar*cough*
