when using visio, what is the difference in units between Mertic and US unit and which is more standard?

Metric would be easier, and is more standard. It's also easier to convert metric (ex. meters to kilometers, vs yards to miles).

this all depends on where you live and what you are creating it for. if for the typical USA then US is standard and metric is the odd ball, but if anywhere else in the world pretty much then metric is the standard.
