Vista 32 bit to 7 64 bit

Ok, I understand that I will need a clean install from previous posts. I have the upgrade disk...the question is should I use the windows easy transfer? Anyone had any experience with this? Will it save pics, rankings on games etc...? It says you need a special wire to go to a different computer, usb to usb...is this true?
I have the feeling that I will lose all my data, etc. by doing this. If I make a backup disk will this save all my files?

I have never used it simply because I don't trust it with my files, I would rather copy the files myself, put them back myself, it is much easier and you know it is safe and where it is
 
It's always better to back them up yourself first then use the easy xfer.. and let us know how that works out for ya!
