Vista, 32 or 64 ?

Well for starters, 32-Bit operating systems can only see/use up to 4GB of RAM, while 64-Bit OS's can see up to 128GB of RAM. It may not seem like a big deal now, but very soon 4GB will be like the 512MB of today :)

How long is 'soon'?

Well I remember when we bought our first XP machine (one month after XP being released), 256MB was the norm and considered to be pretty good. Now a few weeks ago, we still used XP, but 2GB was becoming whats good, and 1GB started to become the recommended minimum. Im sure the same will happen to Vista.

So if the same thing happens with Vista as it did with XP, then shortly before the next OS will be out, 4GB of RAM will be the norm, and 8GB will be considered high-end.

I have Vista 32 bit. When I got my computer that Is all that was offered. I have 2 gigs or ram now and when I need to upgrade I can alway buy the 64bit version if I need to. Are there any other differences?

Not all 64-Bit OS's can see 128G of RAM

Home basic (64bit-version) can only use 8GB of ram, and home premium can use 16GB only

Which is limited by Microsoft to get consumers to buy higher end OS's, but in general, a 64-Bit OS has the capability to see up to 128GB of RAM.

I agree, I thought that was a (cheap shot) by microsoft. I bet after some time someone will come out with a patch to override that!
