I just built my first 64 bit and I get Vista 64 loaded and motherboard drivers installed just fine, but if I do a shutdown and turn it back on I get the black screen wanting me to reinstall again. I can do restarts and even get online, its just the shutdown that makes me go back to square one. Heres what I got GIGABYTE GA-MA790FXT-UD5P AM3 DDR3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard...AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor...Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB. I did a Belarc memory checks out great, I was told maybe a dual boot (thats over my head) I do know it has dual Bios, and another thing I have to go into the bios and set to fail safe defaults before it will let me do the reinstalls. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

hi friend, is it a cracked version? if so the crack might be faulty other than driver what software do you install with it? lets first try figure out why its doing that before you do a dual boot hay?

No...its a legal version of vista 64 home...I only load the motherboard disk then check it to see what happens on a shutdown, thats when it goes back to the black screen wanting the system to be installed...I did on one install load the video cards drivers and got it on the net updated the Bios through the @bios utility gigabyte provides(that didnt work either)...this is really frustrating

I figured it out!

#1 This board has to have the Bios updated from F5 to F6 #2 The sata cable HAS to be inserted in the 04 slot or its not recognized as the 02 master, your CD/DVD being 01 #3 In standard CMO settings set the HDD to priority, check that you have proper boot order and optimize defaults then save:good:
