ok i jsut got vista ultimate and i want to install my games, but when its completed or half way through downloading or after I try to run it, it says its missing a file and cant run it , the games im trying to install are

1. BF2, SF BF2, BoosterPack BF2
2. Hitman Blood Money
3. GTA San Andreas
4. Call of Duty 2

Has anyone with Vista or Ultimate had this problem and can help me please !!!!!!!!

, well has ne one had problems loading games onto vista ????? like u cant actaully play them?????

Well, COD2 and San Andreas work fine on my Vista, I dont have the other games. So far the only games I haven't gotten working are Penumbra Overture and the NFS Carbon demo.

thats weird i was under the impression if the games work on xp they'll work on vista but i don't own vista and being a big gamer this doesn't sound too likely of me getting vista anytime soon. I believe with all new OS they have to work out some kinks upon the first releases then again im quite happy with xp so who knows.

I've had the same problem with some of my games .. its something to do with the temp file when instailling .. I think its something to do with your temp file only lets ur write a limited amount on it at a time(stuff goes to temp file first i think so wen it cant fit it all it doenst write it all there for files are missing) .. soo.. i havent figured out how to fix it yet been too lazy i just install it on xp and play on vista lol .. duel booting FTW

Lol, lots of my games were installed in XP, I was just too lazy to reinstall them all for Vista, but all of them but the games actually made by microsoft work fine (sans the sims 2). Every game I've installed in Vista (minus the 2 games I mentioned earlier) have worked fine.

erm...if any of you guys would say what files were missing, people could help ya fix em :P
also, just saying the game wont work and asking why wont do anything. nobody else here can see what exactly happens when you try to run the game.

all the times i've had missing file problems with games the file was named d3dx9_##.dll which is a directx9 file, and vista comes with directx10. all the games that are having trouble are directx9 games that don't include directx9 with them or include the necesary directx9 files that they need to run (obviously).

the files can be easily found online and downloaded from one of the many free dll sites out there. just search google for the file, download it, and toss it in your windows\system32 folder then play the game. don't even need to reboot or anything.
