I need to send in my core 2 processor cuz i think its messed up. my system has been really laggy and both cores are constantly working at max capcity even when i'm not doing much. So i threw in an P4 2.8 HT processor and now my windows is acting really weird. It wont let me update my rating which is causing me not to be able to use aero, also i cant access things like the control panel or the welcome center unless i go through my computer to get there. does anybody know if this is due to the fact that this processor in incompatible with vista? the no aero experience i can understand but not being able to get to the control panel...

thanks

[edit]i just discovered I cant run Windows Media Center or Player or Zune Player and when I try to run Media Center I says it was prevented by a software restriction policy

I have the P4 2.8 GHz Northwood running in my Sony Vaio. Vista and Aero ran fine on that system.

Yea def. you will prolly have to use the recovery CD's etc. This happesn b/c you went from Dual core-to Single core, if you put another DC in there you prolly wouldnt have seen any issues arise.

Makes sense, kinda. I just ended up reinstalling my windows, it's been a while and I had that SP1 Beta thingy stuck at the bottom of my desktop. But when I get my processor back there shouldn't be a problem going from single-core to dual-core right?
