first, use some punctuation.

Second, are you sure you've got the CD/DVD drive to boot first?

Like oscaryu1 says, go into your system bios and set the cd/dvd rom to boot first.

then Just put the xp cd in the cd/dvd rom and restart the pc, the screen will ask you to push anykey to boot form the xp cd. after that just follow the instructions.

The easiest method for seeing Vista removed depends on the type of hard drive you are running. First you simply reformat the primary to see all traces of the newer version removed. That includes the new "boot" folder the Vista installer creates.

If this is for a sata drive you may need a driver disk prepared for the sata controllers on that model board. Upon booting with the XP disk you press the F6 option to have the installer copy and load the sata drivers. If the installer still fails to detect the drive try the "press S for special devices" option seen on the following screen upon the next attempt.

There you select the name of the chipset closest to the one on the board. That should then see the drive listed for selection once you pass the press enter now screen and choose the drive.
