Does anyone have a link for the rc for sp1 for vista, the RC should be released to the public today (12-11-07) If anyone has a link please post it. thanks.
Where have you been? The RC1 beta verion of Vista was released over a year ago! The full retail editions have been on the market since the end of January of this year. The initial beta was out in the summer of 2006 with RC2 later in the fall. If you want to look over the five or six editions those are compared at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/choose.mspx
The beta for the first service pack has been out for a few months while most are obviously waiting until Q1 of 2008 for the actual final release. It's been delayed a few times or simply online articles are preassuming a non existant release date. It took a full year to see SP1 for XP and then add two more for SP2. Where's SP3 for XP is the wonderment for many! MS has been slow at everything except promoting Vista.
yeah but with that quickness with vista lead them to one of the worst selling oses (not that is bad) but they need to get this sp out asap. i tell my friends it is not worth paying for it yet, wait a month for the service pack to come out
While Vista is great with some things it certainly lacks a lot in others. This is where Dell is offering XP or another older version as an alternative OS on their new systems due to Vista being labeled at times as the ME II flop.
A few of the urks seen with Vista isn't frame rates in games but the lack of things like the add/remove Windows components typically seen in all versions prior going back to 95. WMP 11 hasn't seen anything in the way of visualizations with none included and 3rd party not installing and running.
The MS download page still sees the exact same ones seen two years ago with some for WMP 7. Hopefully the SP1 will fix a few needed items as well as any bugs. We'll have to wait and see how well MS does there.
yeah, btw on the topic, is it just me or did vista improve stand-by A LOT? i mean it seems now my fan on my comp does not need to go at all when in standby where as xp it went on.
I haven't really tested the standby mode since I always set the power profile to active for Vista and never on XP. That means no drives down or sleeping monitor. With Vista however you will find a few more background services to keep the cpu occupied over XP there. Plus you may have the Quiet'n'Cool feature kicking in there.
