Right, my dad has now had Vista for 5 months and now we're trying to access old documents off the new drive. We used a Belkin Easy Transfer cable which has messed up the ownership of all our old photos. We have the D drive which is the old drive and we want to get rid of it ASAP (Old Seagate IDE) although there are 2 issues:
1) The file ownership system in Vista means that we can't use the old files and despite that fact I have tried an ownership change with the sub-folders option checked the items still stay under this owner that the Belkin cable appears to have made up. We have to change them one by one.
2) Because of this fake owner we can't copy over the files from the D drive because while the D drive is under full ownership the My Documents area on the C drive only works with newer files.
Is there something we can do to prevent me from having to set several thousand permissions by hand?
