Vista HB and RAM

Quick question for you.....my friend's Vista Home Basic will not see the 4 GB of RAM he has in his machine. It shows the 4 GB in BIOS but Vista Home Basic only see 2 GB. I know not many folks use Home Basic, but I was hoping that someone would be able to recommend a few things to try. I really appreciate any and all help with this. Many thanks!

He probablt has a 32bit version of Vista if it can't see all his 4GB of RAM...

Thanks Korn. Should it at least see more than 2 GB? I run Vista with only 2 GB but I'm getting ready to order another and I was wondering if I was going to have the same problem and I have 32 bit as well.

Most of the time with 32 bit os you see 3.5gb. Idk why he only gets 2..

It depends how much video memory he has for the most part. That plays a huge role in how much is reserved for devices in a 32 bit machine.

be sure memory remapping is disabled in bios
