Vista hdd question

I once had set my virtual memory to ALOT. Then my hard drive showed 4 gigs left of 140. I then went and set it back to the original. But now it still show I have no space left. This really sucks when I have to transfer large folders of pictures. That are over the amount of space the hard drive shows but won't let me. Any ideas on how to let me have the full space?

is this a prebuilt computer? does it have a recovery partition that you see when u click on my computer? this is how my laptop was set up from HP. what i did, was i created the recovery DVDs from the recovery manager. after doing so, i deleted the recovery partition from the recovery manager. after this, i went into Disk management then merged that unallocated partition with the rest of my C drive. that gave me almost another 10 gigs of space.

ALSO, you can turn off your automatic restoration points. that should give you some more space as well.

Have you, since, used those DVDs to recover your PC?

To my knowledge, that partition is required if you need to recover using the DVDs you've created.. at least, this is how it works with my Acer desktops.

to be honest, i don't really know. i don't really care either. i don't have any important data on my OS drive. i keep it all on my Data drive. if those recovery discs don't work if i windows crashes, it'll just give me an excuse to buy new a full OEM version of 64-bit Vista :)
