I made three partitions with gparted.
Vista now notices the three partitions. I went to click the 80gb partition for it.
And this appears.

''Windows is unable to find a system volume that its criteria for installation.''

All three formats are NTFS.

What do I do?

Thanks

GParted creates the NTFS type of partitions as well as Linux, Fat, and others but you still have to format the partition afterwards to make it usable. That's right! Now you go into the "Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Storage" and open that to see the Disk Management tool found there to right click and perform a full format on each. Or you can boot with the Vista install disk and use the format option there. Where it says "Install Now" look down for the repair and other options which now include the option to format existing partitions.

By booting with the installation disk you simply drop down to the repair options button instead of clicking on the install now to bring up another screen for different options there. This is one improvement seen in Vista for creating, deleting, and now formatting and resizing partitions as well. The trip into the Control Panel makes it easier to perform a full format along with later assigning the drive letter for each partition while you are still in there. That's one to consider there. The boot from disk option is handy if your drive needs a reformat at some point.
