Okay so I went to clean install vista today, so I backed up the files I wanted to an external drive, and put the disk in and booted of of it. A loading progress bar appears and does it's thing. When it finishes loading it shows a vista boot screen, then BSOD's with the error:

STOP: C0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file):\System Root\System32\Config\SECURITY or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

This keeps happening no matter what I try, and the results I get on google are for people with Vista already installed..

So yeah, any help is appreciated.

i have read people with Gigabyte mobos having this problem with vista and 4gb of ram if thats what you are running try removing 2gb of ram and running with only 2gb.

Then you should be fine, but try 1 stick at a time, 1 of the sticks might be dieing.

Alright so I tried doing this today result

When I took the first stick out: No difference.

When I took the second stick out: It gave me a menu asking me what I wanted to do with the disk I was booting off, I selected "Setup Menu" or something like that, then it did the same thing as before loaded, then BSOD error.

Sounds more like the version of vista's registry is corrupt. Is it a pirated version?

No wai.

But the copy of vista is an burned copy, and I planned on using my CD key..

But I've decided that I'm going to get my copy of Vista posted here from the UK.
