Vista Laptop Connection Nightmare

Hi
I have a home network which works perfectly fine apart from one major issue with my laptop.

Connected to the network is a wireless desktop pc that connects everytime, a xbox that is on wireless that also works everytime.

The problem is with a laptop with vista installed on it, sometimes when starting up from the beggining (not from standby) i get a wireless connction and if i plug into the router i get a connection everytime.

It seems to have issues when coming out of stand by or hibernation and it then has limited or no connectivity. repairing the connection does work 25% off the time all other times i turn off my laptop and kill the router for 30 secs and then i get the wireless connection back.

I have tried everything and am running out of patience with the laptop:confused:

Any Ideas??????

Well, that could be the router is crap. I know that my uncle's router did the same thing, and there was nothing I could do about it.

But, what is your wireless card model? Do you have the latest driver?

Also, what is the router model?

There could be some sort of power setting on your wireless card that's keeping it in a powered-down state. See if there's any settings in the device manager that mention letting Windows turn the device off to save power, or reducing the connection speed when in standby. If there is such a setting, what happens if you disable the power options on the card and resume the PC from hibernation?

there are plenty of settings that i have tried fiddling with in device manager but none really seem to fix it. nothing is set to power down as when i first came across this setting i thought that i could be one of these that was causing the problem

the best way of describing the problem is that the internet works fine untill you let it go into stand by and when you power back up it doesnt refresh the connection for the dynamic ip and repairing the connection dont solve it either. i could be wroing wit this!

the router is a belkin n series and i really dont think its the router thats the problem. its the lap top with my network

my net card is a atheros ar5b91

thanks for the help so far!!

I have been using my laptop on a different network recently with no connection issues so im now guessing its something to do with my router or a setting on it. maybe it is a crap router!!!

I know from using my xbox that my NAT type is set to strict, this may be done by my ISP but im not sure. so I was thinking is that maybe something to do with the problems im having??

its a belkin n series modem router.

Any suggestions welcome, Thanks!!!
