working with my ASUS U47A-BGR4 Notebook with a dual boot windows 7/windows vista that i installed after purchasing.

drivers here: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/U47A/#support_Download_8

while vista is not listed as a supported OS, everything seems to work great EXCEPT the wireless card and the usb ports. the wired ethernet card works great

tried installing the normal windows 7 drivers but to no avail. the 'network controller' is the only thing listed under 'other devices' with no driver installed

the usb ports say they are working and devices will 'light up' and appear to work but the computer never responds to them. in the usb section of device manager has 'generic usb hub', 'intel 7 series/c216 chipset family usb enhanced host controller' and ' usb root hub' all listed.

Any help?

One question. Why are you using vista when 7 is much better? Anything that runs on vista will run on 7. Just trying to save you some headache.

well unfortunately such a sweeping statement is never true.

I make money using worldwinner.com. the games on there have frequent problems on windows 7 and 8. thus vista is my only choice.

thanks

Thats the wrong way to make money. You will have to manually search the internet for drivers if you really need vista installed on that machine.

To try helping you out here, you will need to go to Intel's website and download the correct chipset drivers.

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect

Use that link and then click on check system for latest updates. That will give you the chipset driver. The network controller is most likely the wireless. Right click on the network controller and click on properties, click on the details tab, change the property of hardware id and give me the 4 digit vendor and device ID numbers. They will look like this. ven_xxxx and dev_yyyy Where Ven is the vendor and dev is the device followed by 4 digits.

update

i tried intel's website to no avail. all they have on there is the driver for the bluetooth and it installed normally but wireless still doesnt function.

here is the ven and dev:

ven_8086
dev_0887

any thoughts on the usb ports?

thanks

I think that speaks more negatively about games on worldwinner.com

rather than a reflection on the proven quality of windows 7..

So thats the id numbers for the entry that still needs a driver correct? That item is the centrino 2230 wireless. Should have it on intels website.

yes of course they have the driver, but not for windows vista. and if i download the driver for windows 7, it will not allow me to install it

automatic detection

i did attempt to use the automatic detection thing a few times in 3 different browsers to no avail. it just sat there for hours saying "loading" and never doing anything else

You should have gotten an information bar asking you to allow an addon to run for the auto detection will work. Try again.
