just curious if anyone knows the ballpark figure of how much vista will cost

vista basic ?
vista home premium ?
vista ultimate ?

Nobody can tell for sure, but there are rumors that Vista will be cheaper than XP was.If you wan't to read more opinions take a look here.
:)

I doubt it will be that cheap. But I could be wrong. Also you have to be more specific because there is different versions.

Heh. Microsoft published the pricing for a day or two and then pulled them. I think you can find them reposted on ZDNet or something like that. I can't recall which website I read it from, but a Google search should give you the answer.

yeahh, i doubt it's gonna be cheaper than XP, because it's way better than XP, and XP was like $200, or somewhere around there, soo my guess is $300?

Pricing for full retail versions of the software will be Windows Vista Ultimate, $399; Windows Vista Business, $299; Windows Vista Home Premium, $239; and Windows Vista Home Basic, $199.

Upgrades from Windows XP are priced at Windows Vista Ultimate, $259; Windows Vista Business, $199; Windows Vista Home Premium, $159; and Windows Vista Home Basic, $99.
It's not too bad.

Not really, no. When you consider that Ultimate can pretty much plug into your dishwasher and turn it on lol it's not too bad. Besides, those prices will not be final. Seeing as how dealers can sell it for whatever they want, you can pretty much guarantee that competition will drive the prices down below M.S.R.P. It always happens.

A new version of windows hasn't been released in years, I doubt windows is going to suddenly make things cheap....

Omega, it doesn't matter. Those won't be the final prices. We actually don't even know whether or not those will be the final M.S.R.P.s, as Microsoft took them down almost immediately after publishing them. We can know for absolute certain that it doesn't matter what the end M.S.R.P. will be, competition between resellers will drive the price down considerably from list.

That may or may not be the prices when they are released, but those are the best estimates we have right now.

Not to mention in PC Magazine, they published the prices as well.

Either the Home Premium or Ultimate. If I can get it for free, deffinetly the ultimate. I want the Aero effects :P
