Recently windows wont load. I am able to get to the log in screen, than I log in and it wont load. I am able to go into task manager. Also safe mode works fine as well. When I was trying to fix the problem, one of those update your mcafee alerts in the bottom corner showed up. Not sure if that says anything but I thought it was strange that the alert showed up on the black screen when nothing else did. I tried restoring system at old point and also ran spybot S&D and also mcafee virus scan. Still does not work, any suggestions would be great, thanks.


Also right before the problem began happening i had an improper shut down.
 
Have you tried doing a system restore in safe mode???
Have you tried doing a system repair using the windows CD???

yes i did system restore in safe mode.. didnt do anything

That is also one thing i forgot to put, my cdrom is broken. I am buying an external one soon but any other suggestions to try until I get one.
