Hi everyone...
I have installed the RC1 windows vista. The problem is that I wanted to install antivirus, in my case Kaspersky...and the windows blocks the drivers of the antivurs and keeps showing me the warning window.....it suppose to connect to microsoft to find solution but eventually it says no solution.

The thing is I cant uninstall the antivirus. It is not in the list of the installed programs in the Add/remove programs....... I cant delete it manually cause most of the .dll cannot be deleted...and the funny thing the program is not loaded as well....

Any ideas how I can stop this annoying error???

Any ideas what are the compatible antiviruses with this windows?

No one really can answer which one would work best especially since RC1 is not a full version. Video and sound drivers were about the only thing found here that would run on the beta release. The only two things you can try there is a manual edit of the system registry at your own risk to remove the entries created by the installer or reinstall RC1 again. A beta version of an OS is never ready for installing the usual items. It is primary a try out sample of the full version to be released at a later date.
 
Do XP virii attack Vista? How many virii are there to worry about on Vista yet?

You ought to reinstall. Maybe a Mcafee or Norton Trial has been released for Vista?

No one has really had the time to develop a virus that is Vista specific since the finalized version hasn't even been released yet. Viruses that could effect Vista as they have already done with XP are possible. But for the most part the only working anything available for Vista has been video and sound drivers that are themselves in beta and the beta version of IE 7.

Don't expect to install existing softwares on any beta and see working results. The idea behind a beta release is to give out a stripped down version for evaluation alone. The finished version is what will have backward capability included in a full working version. That will allow existing programs like AVG(updated for Vista) and other programs to run.
 
Someone that has been running the one or more beta versions would be the one to ask about what they have been able to install. When the finished version comes out in supposedly three months you will start seeing updates or newer versions of things that will be Vista ready. This will include antivirus and other types of malware removers.

The thing that could work would be the manual edit of the registry. You would have to see if the regedit command is still used in Vista as it has been in all versions as far back as 3.1. Going into the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive to the software branch and looking through for values to delete as well as the HKEY_CURRENT_USER if these are still seen. If you are able to delete all values directly related there you could simply delete the folders after. If you make any mistakes you were planning to reinstall anyways. No Loss either way! :D
 
That was one thing I managed to forget to look over during the brief time RC1 was on the system here. If you can get a screen shot of what it looks like that will tell if the same hive and branch structure is the same. Knowing MS they probably made a few changes in there too. :P oh no now what do i do... :eek: !
 
u can disable the driver protection by restarting and pressing F8 until the advanced options menu comes up. Within this menu select the one that disables the driver verification
p.s: i have tried this with most of the devices it couldnt install and it did not work becuase the drivers are no compatable with Vista RC1 or any Longhorn OS's
 
That's one reason for have a second drive onhand for use when trying out a new or different version of any OS. When installing to a separate drive you first disconnect the primary to isolate it from any changes. If something goes wrong during the installation or from a bad install of a program like this your primary drive is left intact.

With beta anything first know if any available beta drivers are available when going to install something. About the only drivers at this time for RC1 are betas for video and sound. And there are only a few beta drivers for Microsoft's own hardwares to look over. That leaves a number of optical and wireless without any to use.
