Vista Ready Boost

Hey,

I was wondering if Vista's ready boost actually equates to more RAM... Say I bought a 2GB flash drive and stuck it in, would I have 2GB more RAM?

Also, How do I find out if I have USB 2.0 ports?

Thanks

Computer> Manage

I would have thought that the avaliable USB 2.0 ports would have been mentioned in Device Manager, but i was wrong, i cant see anything of it in there, i cant think of anything else.

It doesnt account towards physical RAM, but it takes some of the load away from the physical RAM and Page File.

When you stick the flash drive in, Vista will pop up and ask if you want to speed up your system, if it lets you, then you have USB 2.0 and a compatible flash drive.

Yeah, But when I plug my USB in it says that it'll perform faster in a USB 2.0 or does it allways so that? Thanks :)

In your device manager under USB does it say something like Enhanched USB host controller and Root hub 2.0

On older motherboards sometimes only a few USB ports are USB 2.0, while the others are usually 1.1. Try plugging in your flash drive to the ports on the rear, and see if that makes a difference.
