Has anyone tried it out? I'm thinking about getting a 2GB flash drive for both storage and the occasional readyboost.....TigerDirect has a PNY 2GB readyboost ready for 30 bucks..not bad?
Not all flash drives are compatible. You have to make sure it's fast enough, and I'm not sure where you'd get that information. I know that SanDisk Cruzers are fast enough.
Most new flash drives will work, but its not a guarantee that they all will. I also have a SanDisk Cruzer and it works well with Vista as readyboost memory.
However I notice no difference in performance, even in benchmarks, with it enabled or disabled.
I think Ready boost is aimed at lower ended systems, I have a P4 as well as a X6800, and on the P4 I have noticed a big difference in how fast my browser opens up, and just general explorer browsing.
I wouldn't use ready boost unless you are really low on RAM. It's not usually much of a boost. If you format the thumbdrive to ntfs it's a little better.
