vista skins

You can try Windows: X.. That's a Windows XP Mod that makes it look and feel like Vista. Messed up my laptop pretty bad after I tried to uninstall it.. Though I did have an older version.
 
I'm imagining you have XP.

Try Vista Inspirat. It replaces the current theme file and looks exactly like vista (Except for the start menu grouping/appearance). It also changes the background wallpaper, the logon screen background/buttons, and the system sounds and cursors. If you don't like it, when you uninstall it, it restores everything back to the way it was before the install. I personally think it's amazing. Give it a try and see for yourself!
 
Wow, I installed it, it IS amazing!!
Now i can have the comfort of knowing im still using XP and knowing how to get to everything and not having to go through the whole new learning process of a new OS, but have the awsome visual stuff that VISTA has!! this is so cool!! :D

Have you tried uninstalling it? I have the file sitting on my desktop but also have read of uninstalling problems of not going back to "how it was".

I dare'nt try it until I know:)
 
Yea, I think I'll give it a miss as it changes so many of the system files. Probably at a later date after Microsoft updates the system files may alter again making an uninstall impossible.

i've used all the brico themes in my computers and my friends' computers in the psat and uninstalled it many times with no problems.

Just last week I tried other Bricko packs and had to uninstall all of them after each install to try the new one. They all restored perfectly. I couldn't believe how boring my old theme was when I did uninstall them! :D
 
i find that the windowsX vista transformation pack for XP is the best.

it changes everything and makes it look nice.. it also has the options to install the vista side-bar and all that stuff... but i didnt.. i dont like it :)
